Today is the first Saturday of the month which means “Market Days” to Wimberley and to all our Hill Country residents and visitors… Today I woke up early, eager to head out there and see what wonderful finds I could discover! It is touted as the Hill Country’s Oldest and Largest Outdoor Market with 465 Booths! For more info and schedule, go to www.shopmarketdays.com. I ended up talking with a local author (former airline pilot) who has just published his civilian/military aviation thriller (see www.silverhawkbooks.com) and then moving onto the St. Stephen’s School booth for hot homemade biscuits and honey! How could I resist? They were heavenly and I figured just walking past all the booths would burn those biscuits off my thighs! If not, I could always go swimming afterwards at one of our local cool places to take a quick dip…So if you are ever in our area and in the mood for anitque shopping, plants, organic hot sauces, cool clothes (yes, tie-dye!), gorgeous anitque leaded glass from England and even a chat with a local author, head out on FM 2325 and catch Wimberley’s Market Days (free admission-parking $3-5 depending on the lot). It is just a delightful way to spend a Saturday morning and you never know what you’ll find that you just can’t live without! Hey, for me, it was those biscuits and a great book! Who knows what you will find at the next market days which is July 5th…Come on over to the Hill Country and check us out!

And if you want to cool off, take my advice and head on over to one of true treasures here in Wimberley, the Blue Hole (www.friendsofbluehole.org). It is located at the edge of town and about a 2 minute drive from Market Days! And a season pass is a big whopping $10.00! Yes, that’s right, 10 bucks to swim all summer in one of the most gorgeous places in Texas…see the photos of the brave kids who swing out on ropes suspended from the tops of the huge cypress trees and plunge into the cold clear deep pools! It is located on 126 acres of beautiful Cypress Creek and the story of how the citizens of Wimberley bought this once privately owned paradise and made it their very own park is a truly wondeful slice of life here in Wimberley. And yes, there are homes for sale along this beautiful creek!
