Jobs in Austin Tx Still Going Strong!

Texas does it again!  Hotjobs at Yahoo just posted the top ten cities to find a job and Houston  6,768 Jobs and Dallas  6,273 Jobs made the list of the largest metropolitan areas…Both have considerably more population than Central Texas’ Austin which currntly posts 1,824 Jobs.  However, both of the other metro areas outflank us by huge population margins. So just how big is Austin? According to the Austin Chamber of Commerce, “Because of its draw as a destination for migrating talent, metro Austin’s population grew to nearly 1.6 million in 2007. The 1990s saw a 48% increase in population, and growth has been averaging 3.4% annually since the 2000 Census. The 2000 Census indicated that only four U.S. metros saw greater total net migration than Austin between 1995 and 2000. Census Bureau estimates for 2000 to 2007 show that Austin remains one of the top destinations for migrating talent. Austin ranks 5th among the top 50 U.S. metros based on net migration as a percent of total population (15%).    What are the areas with the most jobs in Austin?  Technology ranks as No. 1, followed by the Healthcare field as No. 2, and Sales as No. 3.  Our median priced homes remain lower than the national average…. ”Texas consistently ranks as one of the nation’s most favorable business climates based on its low tax burden and competitive regulatory environment. In Texas, aggregate costs for real estate, energy, wages and taxes are below most states in the country. ..Compared to other major business centers, Austin is well known for offering affordable living.
