This past Saturday (May 7, 2008) found me once again down at the Whitewater Amphitheater www.whitewaterrocks.com on the beautiful Guadalupe River to see Robert Earl Keen and his phenomenal band. What an incredible show he puts on! I started out in the VIP skybox seating (thanks to Julie of Whitewater) with its own bar and really deluxe views and cool evening breezes. But as I sat sipping on the coldest beer I have EVER gotten at a music venue, I noticed that scores of fans were moving up to the stage and standing. I figured they must know something I didn’t and so I moved on down to be with the crowd and was I ever glad. I became part of the REB fan base which knew every word to every song and somehow managed to sing it in key and even blend wonderfully with our star attraction. REK at one point just gave up on trying to outsing the audience and put the mike out to the crowd! They loved it and him and he seemed to be in absolute bliss up there with his incredible band. See www.robertearlkeen.com ) for full details of his band members. They are a very talented, very tight and extremely happy goup of musicians who just flow in sweet perfection up on that stage. They are in abolute heaven it seems as they get into the show and into the lyrics and the incredible energy coming off of the audience! What a rush! REK sings of Texas, of growing up in Corpus Christi, of crazy adolescence, of partying too much, of having way too much fun and having no regrets about any of it! As in “The Road Goes On Forever and the Party Never Ends”-One of the crowd’s all-time favorites! He is the perfect storyteller/troubadour/singer/songwriter extraordinaire! Go see him if you get the chance and by all means, give up the comfort for the sheer joy of getting up close and personal with this incredible musician and his very talented band!

I missed REK at Whitewater, but I did hear del Castillo brothers and I agree with Vicki, absolutely divine venue to hear live music. Even in this heat, the breeze blows and the music echoes in the air. Everyone is having Fun.
So glad you have this new website, I can discover new fun places in the Hill Country.

Vicki I loved what you said, “… he seemed to be in absolute bliss up there.” I couldn’t agree with you more!!
I have been to a lot of shows out at WWA, and this was one of my all time favorites. REK and his band looked like they were having a great time. They looked young and energized, and if you had never seen/heard of them, you would have never known they had been in the game this long.
I love your website, and my boyfriend and I can’t wait to check out the out door movie theatre.
See you out at White Water for Jimmy LaFave!
