What an incredible place to go after a long day at the office! Today I was in Austin and luckily had my swimsuit and camera in car, so I stopped at one of my favorite places, Barton Springs pool…The pool is located within the 300+ acres of Zilker Park and the springs have been considered a magical place since the Native Americans used them as sacred healing pools… And when one first views it after a long day, the magic is definitely still there. The water is at 68 degrees which feels incredibly cold and wonderful on a day like today that hovered in the 90’s…There are those that swim here year-round, yep, that’s right, even in the winter in Austin. ( Not this summer girl, let me tell you..) But you will find me there after a hard day out previewing or showing property in Austin or just working in my office on Mopac. I can’t think of a better place to end up than here, sitting on a towel until I get really warm and toasty and then plunging into the wonderful spring fed, limestone basin of Barton Springs…catch you there some afternoon perhaps. Then after a swim, we can head over to the Shady Grove on a Thursday night for an “Live and Unplugged at the Grove”..see you around town..
ps. if you want to know more of the history of the springs and hours, costs, etc…see the following link
